About Peter
With over 30 years working in information technology sector Peter has developed a wealth of experience in all major areas of technology and its applications. From the early 1990's and the inception of the internet to todays cloud driven enterprise applications, Peter has the experience and knowledge to provide expertise to any information technology project.

UBIQUITY NETWORKING
Client: Denmark BIG 4 Holiday Park
An exciting a challenging project to provide wifi internet access to most areas of the park with no fibre to the node NBN available I made use of 3 fixed wireless NBN services connected to a Ubiquity EdgeRouter in load balancing configuration feeding internet access into a Ubiquity Unifi Security Gateway.
Internet access for park guests and for the office network is controlled by the UNifi Cloud Key GEN 2 allowing me to monitor and manage the entire network over 400 km away in Perth.
This beautifui park is spread across many hectares with a large camping area at the rear and many chalets and cabins, a backhaul network was created to cover most of the park using a single Ubiquity Rocket Prisim GEN2. Ubiquity NanoStations were mounted
on the chalet roofs connected to ceiling mounted Unifi AP-AC Light Dual Radio Access Points units inside the chalets to provide guests the best possible wifi experience.
Caravanners (Mobile Homes) and campers can also access the network via NanoStations and Unifi AC Mesh access points with 2.4 GHz Omni antennas throughout the park grounds. As the park contains many trees 2.4 GHz antennas were chosen as they had better penetration through trees and other obstacles.
VEEAM BACKUP AND REPLICATION
Client: All Enterprise Clients
Peter has been a Veeam Partner for many years and first started using Veeam Products 2010 and today this product has evolved into arguably the only choice for enterprise backup of virtualised infrastructure. All Peters' enterprise level clients have Veeam Backup and Replication installed with optional End Point Protection to backup non-virtualised workstations and notebooks.
Veeam can backup your virtual infrastructure to CPE (Customer Premise Equipment) or into the cloud or both, leveraging inexpensive cloud storage such as Amazon S3 Buckets. For on-premise backup storage Peter often chooses Synology NAS or will custom build a Dell based storage server with Windows Server 2016 (or higher) and approriate sized disk RAID.
GFI ARCHIVER
Client: All clients with email in a 365 tenant
Everyone understands you have to backup your server infrastructure and network storage but with most email services now in the cloud little or no consideration is given to archiving email. Email Archiving should not be confused with Email Backup as these are two seperate strategies with 2 equally important but distinct services.
Email archiving involves storing all the email that your staff and team send and receive in a seperate repository from your email server that only appropriately authorised people can access and is generally immutable (cannot be changed). For legal or human resource reasons you might want to review all the email a team member or group of team members has sent to a particular client or contractor. Just reviewing their email client quite often not enough as email can be permanently deleted.
Peter has partnered with GFI and uses GFI Archiver to archive email for all clients who use 365 (formerly Office365) for email services. Mail Archiver can record and store all email through your 365 tenant and is imutable so even if staff delete email from their client we will still maintain a record of all emails received and sent.
Microsoft 365 does support Email Archives and also has investigative tools available such as E-Discovery in the Compliance Centre but these tools do not provide immutable archival storage, staff and team members can still delete email from both their primary storage and archival storage. Microsoft 365 does support Litigation Hold to prevent users from deleting email, Peter feels that by the time you put an email on litigation hold whatever evidence was there it is long gone, moreover litigation hold could cause the email box to reach capacity very quickly as nothing can be deleted.
Having immutable email archival storage outside the Microsoft 365 Cloud that can be on-premise or virtualised in the AWS Cloud protects both your business and your team.
AMAZON WEB SERVICES
Client: Everyone
Today cloud infrastructure and services are ubiquitous and ever increasing service offerings, Peter has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and almost all his clients make use of a product or service provided by AWS and integrated and managed by Peter. From simple offsite backup using Amazon S3 Buckets to complex video analytic services provided via Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2). Most enterprise clients are running hybrid arrangements as they move more services into AWS whilst maintaining business continuity with their on-premise infrastructure.

VMWARE VIRTUALISATION
Client: Enterprise Clients
Virtualisation technologies such as those provided by VMware have revolutionised the way we manage on-premise servers and allow us to make more efficient use of server infrastructure. We can now squeeze every bit of value from our servers CPU and hard drive space and also increase reliability and redundancy. We can make use of spare server processing capacity and deploy virtal desktops for remote and in office workers, we can transition our server operating systems to new hardware with minimal or no downtime. The days of performing server rebuilds after a hardware failure are a relic of the 20th century, today we just restore a backup from Veeam onto new or spare hardware in minutes, instead of waiting days for parts or the backup to restore from tape.
A pre-requisite for Peters' clients with server infrastructure is to transition to VMWare and Veeam as the backup solution. Peter beleives the risks of running a business without server virtualisation are simply too great, particularly in Western Australia where the wait time for parts ordered from the east coast could be days.
Peter has been using and recommending VMware for more than 10 years, today there are many choices for virtualisaiton technologies for on-premise hardware but VMware is a market leader and the original virtualisation systems provider.
